Puidukoda OÜ is investing nearly one million euros in a new impregnation autoclave, which will be installed at the company’s Näpi production unit in Lääne-Virumaa, Estonia. The investment will increase the share of processed wood and increase production capacity.
Until now, Puidukoda’s impregnation capacity has been concentrated in the Karksi production unit. The addition of the new device to the Näpi factory allows for a better distribution of the workload between the two factories.
“The introduction of the autoclave in the Näpi unit gives us the opportunity to increase the share of value-added products. We will also have the opportunity to offer the Estonian market an impregnation service, which has been requested from us repeatedly, but the production capacity has not been sufficient so far,” said Eveli Opmann, CEO of Puidukoda OÜ.
The autoclave allows wood to be treated using a controlled vacuum and pressure process, as a result of which the impregnation agent reaches deeper into the wood, extending the service life of the material and improving its resistance to moisture, rot and other biological influences. Puidukoda’s pressure treated material is certified according to the CTB+ and KOMO standards, with NTR certification expected soon.
Puidukoda is a French-capital-based planing industry in Estonia founded in 1997, whose main activity is the production and distribution of high-value-added softwood planing material. The company employs more than 120 people at the Karksi factory in Viljandi County and at the Näpi factory in Lääne-Viru County, acquired from Stora Enso at the end of 2023.
